WHAT IS CRISIS INTERVENTION?
Rock County Crisis Intervention provides services to people of all ages who are experiencing a mental health and/or an alcohol or drug related emergency. The Crisis Intervention Unit operates 24-hours a day, seven days a week. Crisis staff provide in-person support and assessments to the emergency rooms in the county, the homeless population, to residences and other settings in the community.

WHAT TREATMENT AND SERVICES ARE AVAILABLE?

  • In-person support and assessments are available on a drop-in basis at the Rock County Health Care Center (3530 N. County Road F) 24-hours a day, seven days a week.
  • Assessment of individuals who do not have insurance or other financial resources who are requesting funding for voluntary psychiatric and detox admissions.
  • Assessment of individuals determined to be at imminent risk of harm to themselves or others who are NOT seeking voluntary services.
  • Consultation with law enforcement agencies within Rock County regarding individuals with mental health and/or alcohol or drug related concerns.
  • A suicide hotline for persons who are experiencing suicidal ideation or for friends and family of individuals who are at risk of suicide.
  • A crisis hotline for callers needing emotional support, information or referral. Callers have the option to remain anonymous.
  • Education to the community regarding suicide prevention and intervention.
  • Education to the community regarding Chapter 51 laws regarding psychiatric and detox treatment, detention statutes and the court commitment process.

  • Any Rock County Resident
  • Non-Residents who are experiencing a behavioral health crisis

CRISIS STABILIZATION

WHAT IS CRISIS STABILIZATION?
Crisis Stabilization is a service that provides assessment, crisis planning and case management to individuals with mental illness who are in crisis and may otherwise be placed in a more restrictive setting. This program is designed to be short-term by supporting the needs of the individual to stabilize while remaining in the community. Crisis Stabilization referrals primarily come from Crisis Intervention, institutional liaisons and the crisis stabilization facility.

WHAT TREATMENT AND SERVICES ARE AVAILABLE?

  • Assist individuals with accessing resources such as economic support, medical assistance programs and housing.
  • Assessment of psychiatric stability.
  • Support with medication compliance.
  • Linkage to long-term treatment providers.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE?

  • Crisis stabilization case management (CSCM) serves individuals and families across the life span; there is no age of eligibility.
  • Individuals are eligible for CSCM:
    • if they are in a situation caused by an apparent mental disorder which results in a high level of stress or anxiety for the individual, persons providing care for the individual or the public, and
    • those heightened levels of stress or anxiety cannot be resolved by the available coping methods of the individual or by the efforts of those providing ordinary care or support for the individual, and
    • if the individual is likely to be in a crisis situation if additional supports are not provided.
  • If eligible, a determination of need will also be assessed, such as:
    • a need of immediate relief of distress in a crisis situation;
    • reduction in the level of risk of crisis present in the situation;
    • reduction or elimination of an individuals’ symptoms of mental illness so that the person does not need inpatient hospitalization; and
    • assistance in the transition to a less restrictive placement or living arrangement when the crisis has passed.
  • For children, a determination of need may also include:
    • the resolution or management of family conflicts to prevent out-of-home placement of the child;
    • improvement in the child’s coping skills;
    • reduction in the risk of harm to self or others.

HOW DO CLIENTS PAY FOR SERVICES?
Fees assessed vary based on the particular services provided. Medicaid/Medicare or private insurance will be billed as appropriate. For clients who are uninsured, fees may be assessed on a sliding-fee scale.
