Measles
Prevention
The best way to prevent the spread is through the MMR (Measles Mumps Rubella) vaccination. The recommendation is as follows:
- Children: CDC recommends all children receive 2 doses of the MMR vaccine.
- First Dose: 12-15 Months
- Second Dose: 4-6 Years
- Adults: CDC recommends all adults, who do not have evidence of immunity, receive one dose of MMR.

- Laboratory evidence of immunity
- Laboratory evidence of measles disease
- Birth before 1957
- Evidence of immunity
- Adults requiring 2 doses of MMR:
- Adults, without evidence of immunity, who attend or work at post-high school educational institutions
- International Travelers (6 months and older)
- Children 6-11 months should receive 1 dose and then 2 doses following above schedule
- Healthcare Personnel
- Vaccinated prior to 1968 with inactivated (killed) measles vaccine or unknown type:
- Should receive one dose of MMR
