MANUFACTURED HOME COMMUNITIES

The Rock County Public Health Department acts as an agent of the Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services (DSPS).

DSPS Chapter 326, State of Wisconsin Manufactured Home Community Code, defines a manufactured home community (MHC) as a “plot or plots of ground upon which 3 or more manufactured homes that are occupied for dwelling or sleeping purposes are located”.

MHCs provide needed low-cost housing to Rock County citizens. MHC’s also present unique health, safety, and environmental challenges. The Rock County Environmental Public Health Division seeks to ensure safe facilities, proper water supply, and proper sewage disposal. Currently, there are 24 mobile home communities with 1,665 sites in Rock County. Each of these facilities is inspected annually and licenses to operate are renewed yearly.

Rock County Environmental Public Health Division also conducts:

  • Pre-inspections for licensing
  • Re-inspections
  • Complaint investigations
  • Ensures private water supplies are tested annually for nitrates and bacteria
  • Ensures adequate, reliable solid waste disposal
