Soil survey information is collected and updated by USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service. If you need assistance for Rock County soils information, please call 608-754-6617 ext. 3.

The most up-to-date information is in the on-line soil survey named "Web Soil Survey."  It is produced and revised annually every July by USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service. Interactive mapping, import or draw area of interest, reports, and more.  National and local coverage.
Old copies of soil surveys.  The technical soils information and maps are out of date and some soil names have changed.  However, the old soil surveys have good naratives for soil profile narratives, geographical setting, and soil associations.  In addition, they provide a picture of the county's population, climate, and agriculture at that time.
