Rock County Transit
Rock County Transit still requires you to wear a mask during transportation. Since Rock County Transit receives federal funding, we must follow the Federal Transportation Administration Guidelines. This information has been shared with signage in the buses and press releases by agencies. This requirement has been extended to March 18th, 2022. With the shortage of staffing for drivers, Rock County Transit must prioritize trips for paratransit, dialysis, and medical appointments. Trips that are not there, may be denied. We are very limited on a daily transportation trip.
Who can ride Rock County Transit (RCT)?
Any individual age 55 and over, regardless of health.
Any individual with a disability, regardless of age.
What hours is RCT available?
Transportation is available Monday through Friday, 8:00 am – 3:30 pm for out-of-town rides and 4:00 pm for in-town rides.
Buses are scheduled on a "shared ride" basis; several passengers may be transported at one time to provide service to as many passengers as possible.
What is the cost?
Within your community: $10 round-trip or $5 one-way.
Between communities (example, Janesville to Evansville): $12 round-trip or $6 one-way.
A 10-ride pass is available for purchase from the driver.
Will Medicaid pay for a Rock County Transit ride to a medical appointment?
No. If an individual is age 18 or over, receives Medicaid and requires medical appointment transportation, please contact Medical Transportation Management, Inc. at 1-866-907-1493.
Where can I go?
Anywhere in Rock County. Riders may use the service for medical appointments, work-related transportation, shopping, personal business, visits to nursing homes, hair appointments, or for social trips.
How do I schedule a ride?
Call 608-757-5054 once you know your appointment date. We ask that you call at least 3 days in advance as transportation fills up. Office hours are Monday - Friday, 7:00 am - 5:30 pm.
RCT fills up fast, so please try to call as early as possible.
Is it wheelchair accessible?
Service is provided using wheelchair accessible buses. This door-to-door service requires passengers to be able to get to the bus independently. Our drivers cannot assist you inside of your home and cannot help on outside steps.
If an individual is unable to use regular city transit buses because of a disability, the City of Janesville and the City of Beloit contract with Rock County Specialized Transit to provide door-to-door transportation for qualifying persons. This service operates the same days and hours as regular buses.
Special certification is required, and customers must submit an application to be considered. Eligibility is determined by the Paratransit Eligibility Committee.
Application materials and information for Beloit Transit are also available online at www.beloittransit.com.
Janesville Residents: Contact Janesville Transit - 608-755-3150
The application is available online at www.ci.janesville.wi.us/jts or at the Transit Services Center.
